Windows on Main Street: Robert Jani and Charles Corson

The last set of Main Street, U.S.A. windows that we looked at were above the Emporium and honored Ron Logan, Lonnie Lindley and Ed Bullard. Moving along the west side of Main Street, the next set of windows is near the corner entrance to the Emporium.

The two windows read:

New Era Band & Choir Studio – If It’s New, It’s the Latest
Instruction – Talent Agents
Robert Jani, Bandmaster – Charles Corson, Casting Director

Robert Jani, a Disney Legend inducted in 2005, began his Disney career in 1955 when he became head of the Guest Relations Department at Disneyland. After spending two years in the U.S. Army and time at the University of Southern California as Director of Special Events, Jani formed his own company, Pacific Pageants, in 1961; six years later, Jani rejoined The Walt Disney Company, filling the position of Director of Entertainment. Not long after, Jani rose through the ranks, becoming Vice President and later Creative Director of Walt Disney Productions.

In 1978, Jani left his post at The Walt Disney Company to revive Radio City Music Hall’s Magnificent Christmas Spectacular. Later, Jani was the master plan consultant for Disneyland Paris and Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World (presently Disney’s Hollywood Studios). In addition to his work with The Walt Disney Company, Janni produced the U.S. Bicentennial Celebration in New York Harbor, half-time entertainment at the Super Bowl and the 1981 production of The Glory of Christmas at Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA. Robert Jani died in August 1989 after a three-year struggle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

The other window in this set is dedicated to Charles Corson. As has happened with research on previous Main Street windows, my research into Charles Corson’s career turned up very little information. The only thing I was able to find was that he was an executive in Walt Disney World’s Entertainment division. If you have any additional information about Mr. Corson, please leave a comment below or contact me using the link at the top of the page.

I had the privilege of working with Bob Jani during America On Parade in the mid-1970′s and again with The Grand Opening Ceremonies of The 1982 World’s Fair in Knoxville, TN. It was always a delightful experience working with this gracious professional. He helped jump-start my career in the business, and I will always be grateful.

Thanks for the comment, Judy! It sounds like you had some amazing opportunities to work with Bob during your time at Walt Disney World.
