Magic Kingdom A-Z: Judge’s Tent

This post is part of a series that tours the Magic Kingdom from A to Z. For other posts in this series, click here.

For the tenth stop on our tour of the Magic Kingdom, we’ll trek across the park to Mickey’s Toontown Fair where we’ll meet with the big cheese himself, Mickey Mouse, at the Judge’s Tent. To get to the Judge’s Tent guests first need to tour Mickey’s Country House, which is situated next to the Toontown Hall of Fame and across the street from Donald’s Boat.

Disney Imagineers did a fantastic job in designing Mickey’s Country House, as it is one of the most fun, interesting and detailed attraction queues in all of Walt Disney World. Guests tour all of the rooms in Mickey’s house, as well as his backyard garden, and encounter a number of amazing details including: a radio broadcast of the Duckburg University football team; mail from Mickey’s friends Buzz Lightyear, Ariel, Wendy and Peter Pan; a photograph of his sweetheart Minnie and a number of Mickey baby pictures; and large pumpkins in the famous shape of Mickey’s silhouetted head.

After touring Mickey’s house (or opting to bypass the great sites and exiting through the backdoor), guests follow a path to the Judge’s Tent where they can meet with Mickey Mouse. The story behind the Judge’s Tent is that Mickey is judging all of the entries at the Toontown Fair, including watermelons, lettuce and apples. While at the fair, however, he takes time to meet with his guests, share hugs, sign autograph books and pose for photographs.

Based on reports I’ve read online, sometimes when guests visit Mickey, Minnie Mouse is there to join in the fun, too.  Additionally, I’ve heard from some people that during the annual Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, Mickey and Minnie can be found in the Judge’s Tent dressed in their Halloween costumes.

While off the beaten path for most guests, the Judge’s Tent is a great attraction if only for one simple reason: it’s a guaranteed way for guests to see Mickey during their trip to Walt Disney World. For those who are interested, guests can also meet Mickey at the following locations:

  • Character Connection in Epcot’s Innoventions West
  • Garden Grill in Epcot’s Land pavilion (dressed as a farmer)
  • The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (dressed as Sorcerer Mickey)
  • Camp Minnie-Mickey at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
  • Donald’s Safari Breakfast at Tusker House at Disney’s Animal Kingdom (dressed in safari garb).
